My big museum list.

header

Back when I was keeping a museum-specific blog (those were the days!) I’d started to track all the museums I’d been to, including museums at or within historic sites/parks, just for the heck of it. It’s quite remarkable to take a look at the range of places I’ve visited, and I am truly lucky to have been able to do so. I thought it’d be interesting to update it and share it here – have any of you visited these? I think this is all of them! Any suggestions for where I can go next? I’m eyeing up Washington DC, don’t worry..

As of March 2016, I’ve visited 153 museums in my life. And for the hell of it, I’ve bolded the ones I’ve worked at, even if briefly.

It is actually a bit of a personal shame of mine that I haven’t been to many museums. I have been to those close to me, but it is something of a resolution of mine to visit more, and being close to Chicago, the obvious present themselves. Are there any in Michigan that you would personally recommend?

    • nicolehoye says :

I wish I’d been to more in Chicago! But MOSI was pretty great. I’m not sure about Michigan personally, but I have friends who enjoyed the Henry Ford Museum.

Impressive! My museum list would be much smaller. I will have to try and add some to mine when I am in the US later this year.
I still remember that great museum you took me too in London that had all the great medical specimens, though I can’t remember its name!

Nice list!!!! Love that you are a museum nerd too, like me, but which one did you enjoy the most. Out of all the museums I’ve been to, this one is my favorite. Its in the middle of nowhere Alberta in between Calgary and Edmonton. Its amazing!!!

If you ever have the chance, here is a perfect road trip day.
Go and spend the morning at the Gay Rodeo, usually held sometime in early Aug
Drive to the Gopher Hole Museum – See this amazing site
Then off to the UFO landing pad, you heard right. A town in Alberta made a UFO landing pad…for real.
Then glow in the dark mini putt and roller coasters at West Edmonton Mall.

It’s really hard to pick, but I do love the British Museum so much; the Berlin Ethnographic Museum is also incredible.

I really must get to Alberta for some museum visits!
